The word «lucubrate» was used 200-300 years back by the monks when they should study in the night, using lamps or candles. Today the meaning of the word is to write or study, especially at night when you need to use artificial light. The word is also used when someone is producing scholarly written material.
Prepare for the changes
The world is changing all around us. A skilled population is a key to a country’s sustainable development and stability. We know that obtaining a quality education is the foundation for improving people’s lives and sustainable development. To contribute to skill people over the next ten years and beyond, we must look ahead, understand the trends and forces that will shape our business in the future and move swiftly to prepare for what has to come. We must get ready for tomorrow today. Lucubrate will make it possible for youth and young adults all over the world to gain skills they can use in the labor market or create their own jobs. Lucubrate will make it possible for every person to have the lifelong learning opportunities to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to fulfill their aspirations and to make it possible to contribute to their societies. We can envisage that the Lucubrate project shall enlighten us (more about Lucubrate here).
Lucubrate uses different tools to support education. One tool is the digital platform for bringing Quality Education and Skills, to educate people to create possibilities for jobs and to make a lasting difference to people’s lives The location for Lucubrate is global and the office hours are 24/7.
Enlightening Activity
Lucubrate offers courses, both on the digital platform and on-site training. An example of a training program on-site courses with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for academics. In many countries, the use of digital tools came after people got their education. We face many colleges and universities around the globe with highly skilled professional teachers and professors lacking the basic knowledge of how to use digital tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Lucubrate courses are set up to help to close that gap.
Enlightening Activity on the Ground
Because of globalization and technological progress, most countries have seen considerable growth in the demand for labor with higher skills and educational levels in the past decades. In many countries, supply has not grown correspondingly. 
This has resulted in increasing differences either in unemployment or wages between high and low skilled workers. Or, it becomes impossible to find enough skilled workers. In some countries, the labor supply does not follow the demand.
Public schools—and indeed, no government institution—can be operated as a business. The school can supply skilled workers to fill a part of the demand. A way to improve schools in a country where the skills are low is not to run the school like a business, but as a business. Uganda is an example of a country where it is impossible to find enough skilled workers. Over the years the priority of education has not gone towards the Vocational training. The labor supply of skilled workers does not follow the demand.
Youth unemployment in Uganda is the highest in Africa. A recent study showed that the youth unemployment is 62%, although the African Development Bank says it could be as high as 83%. Uganda has the world’s most significant percentage of young people under 30 – 78% [1]. The demand for vocational skills in Uganda is high.
NKB Vocational Centre in Uganda
The NKB Vocational Centre is a collaboration between Nobel Knowledge Building, Uganda (NKB) Ltd, Institute of Advanced Leadership, Uganda and NKB Norway (Lucubrate is a part of NKB Norway). Early June 2018 entered the three organization into a partnership agreement for starting a vocational center. This is a center that shall run as a business. A business that good vocational education for young people and gives profits to the involved partners. By running a school as a business, you make it possible for the school to continue after the first grants has been spent and after the donors have left.

The purposes of the partnership are to engage in the business of Technical Vocational Education and Training and to conduct other activities as may be necessary or incidental to or desirable in connection with the foregoing.
A High quality of the TVET
The NKB Vocational Centre in Uganda has an approach to the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) that will lift the quality of the education.
- All education and training shall, as a minimum, follow the Ugandan regulation and standards. Wherever possible, the education and training shall be upgraded towards an international standard.
